Above on this particular relac the lacquer is a good color match to the original but the red rouge makes it a dead giveaway for a relac. Generally manufacturers are not that sloppy and tend to clean most of it away. Generally! The above photo is the upper stack B key on a buescher alto. The pit marks you see are actually underneath the lacquer. The buffer just could not get all the pitting out unless he buffed the key to nothing. The result was he just left them. Also be sure to look for runs and streaks in finishes that you know a known manufacturer would never allow. Never judge by just one clue.
